Australian Aboriginal Art

Starfish have been learning about Aboriginal artwork from Australia this afternoon. Have a look at some of our Australian animal paintings!

Australian Animals

Starfish Class have been learning all about different Australian animals. We have watched videos, looked at pictures and read information about them. We found out there are lots of different animals that live in Australia such as a duck-billed platypus, koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, possums, wombats, dingoes, emus, echidnas and many more! There are also some quite scary animals like great white sharks, crocodiles, poisonous snakes and spiders and Tasmanian devils! We worked on making notes about one Australian animal and other children had to guess which one it was from our clues. Ask your child to give you clues about an Australian animal and see if you can guess what it is at home!

Year 2's number hunt

Year 2 have been learning all about place value and how numbers can be split into tens and ones e.g. 62 is 6 tens and 2 ones. As part of our maths lesson today, Year 2 children went on a number scavenger hunt in the playground. They had clues to solve such as, 'Find the number with 8 tens' and 'Find the number with the smallest odd number in the ones'. Each clue matched to a letter which spelt out a mystery word - ask your child what the mystery word was!

Starfish Class have made globes!

The Starfish Class have been learning all about the continents of the world in our geography lessons. We have been learning a song about the 7 continents (which we are sure you have heard at home!) and talked about the names of the oceans as well. The children enjoyed creating their globe balloons - ask your child if they can name all 7 continents at home!
